Elder Edward Dixon Sr. Obituary

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.” - 1 Timothy 5:17

“The Exodus of one falling asleep is like an honorable discharge from a long warfare. The reward at the end of the road occurs when the traveler is welcome home. Today our family, our friends, and our ministry have been depending on God for our strength. Our source of strength comes from knowing that God never makes a mistake and that there is a time to be born and yet a time to depart. ”

An amazing and anointed gift from God, Elder Edward Dixon Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11:30 A.M. at Second Mineral Spring Baptist Church, Mitchell GA . Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pastor Elder Edward Lee Dixon, Sr. was born on September 29, 1947, to the late Mr. Frank Dixon and Mrs. Inez Dixon. From the age of six months, he was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Mr. Ed Jones and Mrs. Rosa Mae Jones, who nurtured and guided him until his marriage.

On August 3, 1963, Edward Lee Dixon, Sr. united in holy matrimony with the late Tressierene Tucker Dixon. Their union spanned more than 60 blessed years and was marked by love, faith, and devotion. From this union, seven children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his grandparents, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.

Edward dedicated more than 50 years of his life to the trucking industry. He worked faithfully with J&M Trucking and Howard Sheppard, Inc. for over 37 years, exemplifying a strong work ethic and commitment throughout his career.

A man of deep faith, Edward was a licensed and ordained pastor at St. Galilee Church of God in Christ (COGIC), where he served faithfully. Outside of ministry, he found great joy in fishing and spending quality time with his family, whom he cherished deeply.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Eddie James Dixon (Georgette) of Warthen, GA; Dr. Brenda L. Mountain (Joseph); Rebecca Dixon Marshall (Benjamin) of Tennille, GA; Tressie Inez Hughley (Eugene) of Parrott, GA; Shelia Belinda Reynolds of Sparta, GA; Edward Lee Dixon, Jr. (Lindsey) of Albany, GA; and Jonathan Z. Dixon of Tennille, GA.

He is also survived by three brothers-in-law: Ellis Tucker of Warrenton, GA; Roy Lee Tucker (Mary) of Mitchell, GA; and Earnest Tucker of Thompson, GA; and five sisters-in-law: Catherine Duggan, Mary Warthen, Ruby Ingram, Patsy Tucker (Johnny), Emma Morse of Sparta, GA, and Trisha Banks (Keith) of Warrenton, GA.

Edward was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends to cherish his memory. Special acknowledgement is given to his devoted friends and longtime fishing partners, Mr. Willie Walker and Deacon Cato.

Pastor Elder Edward Lee Dixon, Sr.’s legacy of faith, family, and service will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
